Dates and Location:
The reunion will occur the 2nd week of October from Wednesday, October 9th to Saturday, October 12th. These dates were chosen so the keiki in Hawai’i could attend.
Many events will occur at the Ala Moana State Park near Waikiki. We will have a spot staked out at the park for our ohana activities.
Activities
Each day, Ohana will have activities, including genealogy workshops, hula lessons, awa ceremony, and more! The events at Ala Moana will be fairly low-key; plan on bringing your water, snacks, and chair! We will have a luau; however, the venue has not been determined. We anticipate the luau to be approximately $40 per person. The planning committee will share a series of Oli Hawaiian Chants in the coming weeks. We will learn these chants as a family before the reunion so we can chant together.
We will also host a vigil to honor our kupuna and ohana who have passed.
Genealogy
We will soon send out documents for people to fill out their family information! We hope to have a beautifully crafted Ohana tree to share with everyone at the reunion.
Fundraiser
We will be orchestrating a merchandise sale to raise money for the Ohana Reunion! Items for sale will include shirts, hats, and tote bags. The design will likely include “Aweau Ohana,” with an option to include the Aweau lineage you belong to! Kamana’o will finalize the design for the merchandise in the next two weeks.
Accommodations and Travel
Please book your travel accommodations early! Turo is an affordable option for car rental!
